The duo of SsangYong Motorsport crowned the objective and is awarded for its extraordinary performance with third place in the category T1.3.
The driver from Madrid and his Galician copilot finished 33rd in the overall classification after 3,000 racing kilometers with the SsangYong Rexton DKR built in Spain.
"We must feel very satisfied with our work, carried out with passion from the first to the last member of the team," says the pilot.

The podium in Lima looked like a distant goal for the SsangYong Motorsport team when the first stage of the 2019 Dakar started on January 7. Ten days later, nevertheless, Óscar Fuertes and Diego Vallejo have crowned the objective of returning to step on the Peruvian capital after 3,00 kilometers and 63 hours, 14 minutes and 19 seconds of competition. For the second year in a row, the Spanish duo managed to finish the Dakar with SsangYong Motorsport. In addition, they have rounded off the feat with a magnificent third position in their category for the Rexton DKR,  even more valuable due to the extreme hardness of this edition, which has given heroic overtones to their performance.

The tenth and last stage starting in Pisco and finishing in Lima offered the "survivors"  a short special of just  112 kilometers. The driver from Madrid and his co-pilot from Galicia completed it in just under two hours, scoring  an excellent 29th position that has confirmed his third position in the T1.3 category (modified four-wheel gasoline off-road) and 33rd overall .

In the toughest race of the world, many times the mere fact of finishing is enough reward, which is why this podium knows glory and compensates for all the effort made by SsangYong Motorsport. It also reflects the expertise of its crew and the performance and reliability of the Rexton.

"The rally has been very hard in intensity and difficulty. It was not just a race; It was already a challenge to pass through where they made us pass, "says Óscar Fuertes, stroking the front of his 100% Spanish vehicle:" Our SsangYong Rexton has brought us here,  after a race where we demanded a lot from him ".

In this moment of savoring the success, the former Spanish Rally champion  also wanted to thank the work of all the team of the Korean brand.

"We have to be very satisfied with the work done. Everyone has turned 140%. This is done with passion, from the first to the last member of SsangYong Motorsport. Although we are the protagonists and those who today will come out in the photo, this is a very well done work of all ", values the pilot.

For co-driver Diego Vallejo, this result is also special, because the 2019 was his fourth Dakar raced and finished, the last two with Fuertes and SsangYong Motorsport.

"I'm are very happy to be here, at the finish line of a Dakar that has been terrible, with a lot of sand. We have had a really bad time in very hard times, but we have overcome them all. In large part, thanks to the Rexton DKR, which has behaved in an amazing way despite how much we have demanded, "he acknowledges.

The experienced Galician co-driver says goodbye with a phrase that sums up the enormous sacrifice made to win this success in the Dakar 2019. "This year I think I will not step on the beach a lot; I've had enough sand! ", He jokes. Yes, next to the podium in Lima spontaneously comes out an exclamation:

"We are ready for the next one!".
