Baja do Pinhal is one of the most demanding and spectacular races of the Portuguese championship.  Held near the very center of the country, the race covers more than 300Km in the mountainous landscapes of the Oleiros, Sertã and Proença-a-Nova. For some editions, the rally visited neighbouring municipalities, but it always kept its characteristics.

The name of the event comes from the forest that covers the whole area. "Pinhal" means pine forest, and the race itself is held in the very heart of this forest.

Baja do Pinhal has some very peculiar characteristics, with many narrow and twisty roads that either descend to the deep valleys or climb up to the top of the mountains. From time to time, on the top of the mountains the road opens wide, allowing the drivers to speed up.
Hard, demanding and unforgiving, this race demands serious driving skills teamed up with a very competitive car for any team to be sucessful here.

In the 2017 edition, the race will take place on the 16th and 17th of June.  On the first day, the teams will have to pass the 9,57 km track of the prologue two times.
On the 17th, the big race day, the teams will face more than 327 kilometres of hard tracks to get to the finish.

The rally is organized by Escuderia de Castelo Branco.
