Pedro Santinho Mendes wins Can-Am Challenge by 2.8s
With a final pass through the 120 km selective sector, already used the previous day, SS2 of the opening round of the Portuguese National Off-Road Championship confirmed Tiago Guerreiro, navigated by Carlos Paulino, as the winner of the 2026 edition of the ESC Online Baja Montes Alentejanos in the SSV competition.
Second place, just four seconds behind, was secured by the duo Pedro Antunes/José Sá Pires. In 3rd position finished Gonçalo Guerra, navigated by André Lopes, 1m11s behind Tiago Guerreiro. Roberto Borrego climbed to 4th overall, and together with navigator Domingos Cunha, in a Polaris, he set the fastest time in SS2.
Pedro Santinho Mendes, navigated by José Mendes, won the Can-Am Challenge by finishing the race in 5th place overall, edging out the pairing Rodrigo Melancia/João Diogo by a mere 2.8 seconds in this debuting competition. Also stepping onto the Can-Am Challenge podium was the rookie duo Bernardo Passanha/Xavier Albino, who placed their Can-Am 7th overall.
The Top 10 of this ESC Online Baja Montes Alentejanos was completed by the crews André Rodrigues/Ricardo Porto Nunes, driving the only Segway entered in the event, finishing ahead of the Can-Am of newcomer Paulo Madeira, navigated by Fábio Belo, and the duo Marco Pereira/Eurico Adão. The Stock Category was won by Alexandre Silva/José Galveias.
