Anything happens during the last stage of the Rallye du Maroc, but Anja van Loon stays out of trouble in the Iveco Powerstar. After driving with the ladies through the dunes around Merzouga in the dark a day earlier, they take no risks today, and Anja, Floor Maten, and Marije van Ettekoven want to finish. The Ladies Team De Rooy FPT ends the rally with the third time and are the fastest within Team De Rooy.
"That last stage was just really good," says Anja. "We had to start as the penultimate truck after we had a very long day yesterday. We had repaired the axle and then still finished the test. As a result, we had to go through the dunes of Merzouga in the dark and that was really tough. But it was a very good lesson for us; during Dakar, that could also happen, so we really just had to do that. Back in the bivouac, the mechanics prepared the truck again for today."
And during that final stage, everything went well. "Floor navigated well, and Marije was very sharp with the tire management. We really became a good team. On the road, we saw that many trucks did have problems, and at the finish, we heard that we had set the third time. I'm really very happy with that. This was a really good preparation for the Dakar Rally."
Erik van Loon is also proud of the performances of Anja, Floor and Marije. "What those ladies have shown is really clever. Especially that night drive yesterday is very clever. It's a pity they had some problems, otherwise they would have ridden a nice ranking. We were not allowed to start today by the organization because we dropped out yesterday. I am especially extremely proud of Anja and the ladies!"
