The third stage of the Rallye du Maroc is spicy, with many sharp stones a flat tire is lurking. Both Anja and Erik van Loon are not tempted to make mistakes and drive a good stage. For Anja it results in the fourth time with the Iveco Powerstar. Erik finishes eighth in the Can-Am.
"I'm so happy with the fourth place," Anja says. "It was a really tough test, there were so many stones. That was a bit exciting with the tires, but we didn't go flat. There were a lot of other trucks standing still with flat tires and we really gained time there. It went super well in the truck, with Floor and Marije it just works. This fourth time is really due to top teamwork!"
"Our day started well," says Erik. "After that it got a little messy and we had one puncture in the dust. Then we were able to get back into our rhythm and were comfortable. The suspension of the car feels a lot better now and also the problems seem to be gone now. Hein did fine and the driving went well too. So I'm satisfied."
The rally moves from Zagora to Merzouga tomorrow, during the fourth stage. It promises to be a varied test, with tracks, stones, sand and dunes. At 343 kilometers, it is the longest stage of the rally. The first car will start at 10:20 a.m. (11:20 a.m. Dutch time), follow the rally live at https://www.maroc.live.worldrallyraidchampionship.com/en/car/.
