De Klerk, Roets steal victory first time out at Stella
TreasuryONE Motorsport’s Hennie de Klerk and Adriaan Roets pulled off an epic debut victory aboard their brand new TreasuryONE FIA T1+ Toyota Hilux at the season-opening Stella Northern Off Road Championship race on Saturday. De Klerk and Roets bided their time, only to pounce at the end to steal a memorable debut win against a competitive field.
“What a wonderful result!” Hennie de Klerk beamed, “The new car was fantastic to drive and there were some really big guns in a big field, but we pulled off a dream result.” De Klerk and Roets drove a tactical race and kept out of focus to finish in the pack, but corrected time soon revealed that the TreasuryONE FIA T1+ Toyota Hilux had taken the win.
“We promised ourselves that we were going to take it easy, but it was flat out racing from the word go! “Adriaan and I are delighted to top a great team effort with an unforgettable debut victory. Adriaan was faultless in the hot seat, WCT designed a brilliant package and Tjaart van der Walt built us a winning car that allowed us to win on our first outing!”
TreasuryONE Racing will now race its new FIA T1+ Toyota Hilux through the local season in preparation for 2018 rookie winner de Klerk’s third Dakar Rally in 2024. The new WCT Engineering machine is designed to deliver serious amateur drivers with a vehicle capable of taking on the best, while still racing on a reasonable budget.
