Maria Luís Gameiro's 2025 sporting season kicks off with two major additions. As well as returning to the controls of the Mini JCW T1+, the Portuguese driver will now have Rosa Romero as her navigator, a driver best known for her two-wheeled activities, but also for being married to one of the most prominent Spanish drivers, Nani Roma.
This change of navigator comes in response to the numerous requests received for Team Motivo JCB to have an all-female team, which will also allow Maria Luis Gameiro to compete “in depth” in the events dedicated to all-female teams. At the same time, the choice of Rosa Romero is the result of the Spanish navigator's cross-country experience
Maria Luís Gameiro underlines “my heartfelt thanks to José Marques, who accompanied us throughout the 2024 season and who played a key role in the results we achieved. On a personal note and on behalf of the whole team, I would like to thank him for his dedication, availability and professional skills, which have contributed so much to my development over the last year. I now have other goals and I feel that, with Rosa Romero, I'm responding to the endless list of requests we've had for an all-female duo, which will also allow me to set other goals that were previously closed to me. I'm very excited about opening this new page.”
Rosa Romero, born in Sant Hipòlit de Voltregà (Barcelona), is 53 years old, the mother of three children and has a degree in Telecommunications Engineering. Her entire sporting career has been linked to two wheels, an experience to which she has added participations in the Spanish TT Rally Championship and the Dakar as a navigator.
The debut of the Maria Luis Gameiro/Rosa Romero duo will take place this week in the Morocco Desert Challenge, aboard the Mini JCW T1+ of Team Motivo JCB.
