Brazzilians compete in the UTV category of the Morocco Desert Challenge

After being the fastest in the prologue held on Sunday for the Morocco Desert Challenge, among about 100 UTVs entered, the Brazilian duo Rodrigo Varela/Ênio Bozzano faced a breakdown that relegated them to 72nd place in the overall classification on the second day of the race, on Monday.
But on Tuesday and Wednesday, in a spectacular recovery, the duo recovered 52 positions, and are now in 20th place in an attempt to get back into contention for the first places in the race.
Held in Morocco, North Africa, the rally ends next Sunday and has so far covered 1,156 km in the region's deserts. "We already knew that this race would be difficult, with very hilly courses and temperatures above 50 degrees Celsius. But for me, especially, I am practically getting to know what dune driving in the desert is like. In Argentina, during the South American Rally Race, we had some, but here in Morocco, just today, there were 70km of race only with dunes. So it's something quite new for me," evaluated Rodrigo Varela.
"Finishing the race with a good result is still quite possible, despite the time we lost with the breaks. Rally is a competition to be faced one day after another, so we have to be patient and keep our focus. We will have to risk a little more, to regain ground. But we have done this in the last two days and we have overtaken 52 cars. So we have good pace and Bozzano's navigation has been perfect. A lot of our result is due to the excellent work he is doing here", Rodrigo summarized.
The fifth day of the Marocco Desert Challenge will be 216km in the desert, between Foum Zguid and M'hamid. The leadership is currently in the hands of the Germans Gert Huzink and Rob Buuasen, who have accumulated a time of 15h21min41s for the four days of competition.
