TOYOTA GAZOO Racing W2RC (TGR W2RC) concluded the final day of the 2025 FIA World Rally Raid Championship in commanding fashion, securing the stage victory and sealing the World Drivers’ Championship title for Lucas Moraes with a strong second place finish overall.

TGR W2RC’s three crews and their GR Hilux EVOs took on the final 216 km timed section in the foothills of the High Atlas Mountains, navigating a breathtaking route that combined demanding dunes and diverse terrain. The rally concluded with the Power Stage, a 33 km sprint outside Erfoud, marking the end of 1,478 km of competitive action over the week.

Lucas Moraes and Armand Monleón began Stage 5 in their #202 GR Hilux Evo third on the road, a challenging position to be in but the duo showed composure under pressure, entering the final Power Stage of the season ahead of title rival Nasser Al-Attiyah, ensuring the title fight would go down to the wire. Delivering a strong and measured performance, they secured second place overall, sealing the 2025 FIA World Rally Raid Drivers’ Title for Moraes.

Seth Quintero and Andrew Short enjoyed one of their strongest days of the season and completed the rally with a commanding performance, finishing with over a minute in hand over their nearest rivals, after setting the fastest times in both Stage 5 and the Power Stage with the #205 GR Hilux EVO.

Henk Lategan and Brett Cummings started the final day in fine form and like their teammates, moved forward on the road setting very competitive times in their #204 GR Hilux Evo. Their promising form was unfortunately compromised by a technical issue shortly after the start of the Power Stage but they were able to make the finish and still claim third place in the drivers’ standings for Lategan.

TGR W2RC celebrates a remarkable 2025 season, securing both the Manufacturers’ and Drivers titles. Attention now shifts to the 2026 campaign, with preparations already underway for the Dakar Rally, taking place from 3-17 January, 2026.

Henk Lategan: “We had a good day to start with, on the long straights and the main stage. We started P6 and we overtook one of the Fords in the dunes and had quite a clean stage, some small issues but nothing unordinary in Rally Raid and so we finished just behind Seth in the final stage, quite close. And then we had the Power Stage which is where unfortunately the front driveshaft broke about 2 kms in. So in the end we just drove it to the finish but we gained a lot of experience and are ready to carry that into next year and our next Rally du Maroc.

Lucas Moraes: “We are the World Champions! Crazy, crazy finish to this rally but I just want to thank the whole team, it has been a dream to be a part of this team and to win the manufacturers and also the drivers’ championship is something amazing – all the mechanics and engineers they work so hard and really happy to finish the season like this even though it went down to the wire. This goes to Brazil and to Toyota. Time to celebrate now!”

Seth Quintero:“Stage 5 was a really good day for us, we lead for the first part of the stage and enjoyed a really clean day. Andrew did an amazing job navigating – really strong and proud of him. We had to pass quite a few cars which was a little difficult with the dust but then we made up some time in the end, and then for the Power Stage we started eleventh and tried to make our way up as quickly as we could in 33 kms. We did a really good job and won the Power Stage which is amazing, winning the overall stage. Really happy with our performance, the team’s performance and I’m already looking ahead to Dakar 2026 and to the new season.”
