Renergen 400 2023: Red-Lined shakes it up for Renergen 400
Something a little different from Red-Lined in Welkom
Red-Lined Motorsport has a slightly different look as the team heads to the Free State for the Renergen 400, the penultimate round of the South African Rally-Raid Championship based at Welkom’s Phakisa Freeway on 6 and 7 October.
“We have shaken things up a little for this event,” Red-Lined Motorsport CEO Terence Marsh confirmed. “With Chris Visser and Albertus Venter sitting this one out as we put the finishing touches to our new biturbo V6 powered REVO T1+ GT-R, their place will be taken up by the Dutch Daklapack Rallysport crew of Dave Klaassen and Tessa Rooth. They will now be competing in the ex-Chris Visser Dragon Energy powered REVO T1+.
“One of our biggest focuses for this weekend will however revolve around our only local crew in the event, Johan de Bruyn and Gerhard Schutte as they continue in their fight for the FIA T1 class championship aboard their OdorCure REVO T1. With the two current class leaders still split by all of a handful of points, Johan and Gerhard’s epic title battle will require a polished overall team performance, so the stakes are high.”
“And then to wrap it up our Red-Lined Europe CEO, and another of our Dutch competitors, Rients Hofstra is our third entry for the weekend. He will race under the expert guidance of our local notes man Wade Harris. Rients makes his South African Rally Raid debut with Wade in the hot seat of the DaklaPack Rallysport VK50 which was previously campaigned by Dave Klaassen and Tessa Rooth. Rients is beyond excited about racing in the South African Rally Raid Championship, which will now be an important tick for his bucket list.”
The penultimate round of the 2023 South African Rally-Raid Championship, the Free State Renergen 400, will be based at Welkom’s Phakisa Freeway. The action starts early on Friday with an early morning prologue followed by a 58 km stage in the afternoon. That will determine the starting order for Saturday’s two loops of 164 kms each, once again starting from the racetrack at 08h00.
