Laia Sanz and Maurizio Gerini complete the fifth and final stage without problems in the Open category

The Spanish team returns to Barcelona with valuable data and conclusions that will contribute to the preparation of the EBRO s800 XRR for the major challenge ahead.

The Rallye du Maroc has brought to a close an edition that served as the final major test for the EBRO Audax Motorsport team to develop and fine-tune the EBRO s800 XRR ahead of the Dakar Rally 2027.

After rejoining the event on Saturday in the Open category, Laia Sanz and Maurizio Gerini completed the fifth and final stage without any problems, apart from the expected difficulties of having to start behind the final FIA vehicle.

Ahead of them lay 355 kilometres, 257 of them timed, with the passage of the entire field of motorcycles, cars, lightweight buggies and trucks making for what was expected to be a particularly demanding day.

However, the Spanish-Italian crew managed the heavily degraded terrain and suspended dust to bring the EBRO s800 XRR safely to the finish, leading the Open category.

Laia Sanz commented: “Today we had to start behind everyone in the Open category because we were already out of the overall classification, but we used the day to continue accumulating kilometres and testing different car settings. Driving in real race conditions is always useful, even though we once again had to deal with a lot of dust. It was more of a test day than a competition day, but it was very productive. Now we have to work hard at the factory to arrive at the Dakar in the best possible condition.”

By reaching the finish of the final special, EBRO Audax Motorsport completed an intense and valuable five-day test in the desert.

Despite the setbacks encountered during the event, the technical outcome was highly valuable for the development of the project. The EBRO s800 XRR confirmed a significant step forward in suspension performance and achieved its primary objective of identifying areas for improvement under real racing conditions.

The Spanish team will now take all the information gathered in Morocco back to its Barcelona factory, where engineers and mechanics will continue working to ensure the EBRO s800 XRR reaches the Dakar Rally 2027 in the best possible condition.
