The entries for the second round of the Polaris Motorsport Australia Off Road Championship (AORC) continue to roll in with 44 crews already confirmed for this month’s Wentworth Shire Pooncarie Desert Dash.
Just over a week remains until entries close and already many stars of the competition have confirmed their place, while a number of notable crews will be making their first appearance for the 2023 season.
Headlining the entry list so far are defending champions Ryan Taylor and West Australian powerhouse Travis Robinson will be looking to build on solid starts to the season after both crews finished on the Markwell Group Gold City 450 podium.
Garry Turnbull, Nicholas Commins, Glenn Brinkman, Glen Ackroyd and Greg Campbell are amongst the other notable regulars who will be contesting their second round for the season.
The list of crews already entered in Pooncarie making their first appearance for the 2023 season is just as impressive and includes the likes of Mel Brandle, Alan Dixon, Toby Whateley, Brett Rogers, Geoffrey Pickering and Trevor Chandler.
Both Pickering and Chandler were originally locked in for the Gold City 450 but were late withdrawals – Pickering because his new set of wheels was not ready and Chandler due to travel issues.
However, all six drivers add to the already strong entry list with a collection of stars still yet to enter but who are likely to such as Gold City 450 outright winner James Cook, 2023 Prolite class champion Ally Howells and Swinglehurst Motorsport’s Jake and Tom Swinglehurst.
Entries for the second round of the AORC are open until 14 April and can be done via the Motorsport Australia Member Portal.
Like last year, the event will begin with Prologue and one lap on the Saturday morning, before crews will complete three laps of the 106 course on Sunday.
The Sunraysia Motor Sports Club are also on the lookout for officials to help run the event, with interested volunteers, as well as media looking to attend the event, encouraged to register by emailing
The Wentworth Shire Pooncarie Desert Dash takes place in the town of Pooncarie on 21-23 April, 2023.
