Dakar 2024: A sad day for the CR7's, but the 2WD CR6T's are still charging hard.
Julien Hardy, team manager sent a message this morning: "We've had front suspension failures on both cars yesterday and have no option but to retire both cars from today's and tomorrow's stage until we get parts flown in from SA.
We tried everything we could last night but no success. It's down to a heat treatment issue causing the parts to be brittle and break. On safety grounds there's no other alternative but not to race. The drivers become passengers when the front wheel breaks off.
Sorry for the disappointment, we are trying our best to get back in the race as soon as possible (we can miss 3 stages). It's a weird feeling, the cars are ready but we can't go racing."
In the mean time Mathieu Serradori and Laia Sanz are holding up the charge in the CR6 Turbo 2wd cars! Mathieu was fired up today during stage 3 and came in 7th, only 5 minutes off the overall leaders, even after getting stuck in the dunes for 5 minutes.
Laia had 1 puncture today and is enjoying the turbo engine this year, last year she had the V8. She is also within the top 20 and she is again proving to be the fastest lady at Dakar Rally .
The CR6's are also dominating their 2wd class.
The T1.2 standings are:
P1 Mathieu Serradori 4h20'21"
P4 Laia Sanz +22'25"
P9 Tim Coronel Dakarrally +51'34"
P10 ANDREA SCHIUMARINI +1h02'28"
