Dakar 2024: Anja van Loon starts to feel the Dakar now after tough stage
After nine stages in the Dakar Rally, Anja van Loon, Floor Maten and Marije van Ettekoven are beginning to notice that the heaviness of the rally is beginning to take its toll. On the long stage, the ladies are sent crisscrossing over plateaus. Nevertheless, they make no mistakes and the Iveco Powerstar gets through the stage without any problems.
Today's test certainly does not rank among the most enjoyable stages according to Anja. "It was physically the toughest stage so far. It was long and tedious with all the loops over rocks and lava. We got shaken up a lot again and it just hurt. But, we're there again. One day closer to the finish."
In the cabin, the ladies made no mistakes. "It was tough at times, though, especially with that low sun at the end of the day. Then navigating becomes a little more difficult for a while, but we made it to all the waypoints. So we are satisfied. No punctures either and the truck is holding up very well."
The tenth stage is a long loop around Al Ula. Lots of stones and gravel are expected again. The test is 371 kilometers long and drives through the region's monumental rocks and canyons.
