Dakar 2024: Baumgart and Andreotti climb another position in the Dakar
With four stages left to go, the Brazilian duo occupies 12th place in the overall number of cars. "The stage was peaceful, but we know that in the Dakar this won't last long", highlighted Cristian Baumgart
The eighth stage of the Dakar, held this Monday (15), with 458 timed kilometers between Al Dawadimi and Hail, was surprisingly peaceful, at least for the Brazilian duo formed by Cristian Baumgart and Beco Andreotti, from X Rally, in the category cars. With the Prodrive Hunter, the four-time champions of Sertões closed the day with the 20th best time and moved up another position in the general classification of cars, now occupying 12th place.
“A good day, very fast, with a lot of sand in the first half. The second part we went to the rocks, where caution was the rule. We arrived well, everything went well”, summarized navigator Beco Andreotti.
“The first part was really fun and fast in the middle of the dunes, despite the very fine and heavy sand. It was very pleasurable. In the end it was a lot of quarrying and navigation. It was a day to be among the top 20, and we are fulfilling the strategy by always trying to climb more positions in the general ranking”, continued Cristian.
An experienced duo – the longest-lived in the history of Brazilian rallying – they know that tranquility in the Dakar is not something commonplace. “Today was peaceful, it was fun. We know the Dakar isn't like that and it won't last long. So let’s wait for some quarrying tomorrow,” he concluded. From Ha’il, the Dakar caravan heads to Al Ula with 417 timed kilometers and a total of 639.
Marcos Baumgart and Kleber Cincea, who abandoned the race on Sunday (14) after a terminal mechanical problem, returned to Brazil this Monday. The X Rally Team is sponsored by Vedacit, Motul, BF Goodrich, Rodobens, Center Norte, Rock and Opaoma.
