Dakar 2024: Both of the Fords safe out the 48 Hour Chrono
Both of the Ford Performance Neil Woolridge Motorsport M-Sport T1+ Ford Rangers have made it through the #Dakar2024 48 Hour Chrono Marathon Stage in Saudi Arabia's Empty Quarter - 547km of non-stop desert, which has been described by many of the competitors as one of the toughest Dakar Rally stages they've ever done. It also saw some of the top crews drop out of the race, or lose significant time with mechanical trouble.
Nani Roma and Alex Haro (#210) improved on their overnight position of 22nd place to end the two-day stage 17th. More importantly, this has moved them up to 13th overall in the General Standings!
Despite their lack of desert experience, Gareth Woolridge -Athlete and Boyd Dreyer (#225) made up 10 places from their starting position by the time they reached the 4pm cutoff yesterday, and were placed 78th. They went even better today, clawing their way up to 53rd as they wrapped their longest dune stage yet. In the overall results they are currently 97th, which includes the 15 hours and 15 minutes of penalties incurred for the late finish on Stage 4 due the suspension trouble.
The teams are now making their way to Riyadh for the hard-earned rest day on Saturday where the cars will be stripped down completely and prepared for another gruelling week of #DakarRally action!
