Portuguese driver improves his position overall and in Rally 2

Bruno Santos continues to excel in his Dakar Rally debut. The Torres Vedras driver finished the ninth stage, held between Hail and Alula and covering 639km, of which 417km were timed, as the 3rd fastest of the "Rookies", a result that allows him to maintain his 2nd position in the classification for first-timers.

The Momento TT rider had another positive day in which he once again improved his position in other classifications. Having finished today's selective sector in 13th place in the Rally2 category, Bruno Santos rose to 16th place in the respective ranking. At the controls of a Husqvarna, the XRaids Experience rider completed the day's special stage in 5h22m29s, recording the 25th fastest time, a result that also allows him to climb up the overall ranking to 29th place.

"The ninth stage of the Dakar is over. Today was a day that went very well for me. I was able to make progress and navigate on my own and I didn't have the problem I experience almost every day of catching slower riders who make navigation difficult because of the dust. Today I went out with the fastest riders and always had the track open for riding. It was a beautiful special, with lots of sand and some rocks. The navigation was complex and any distraction could have jeopardized our race. I'm very pleased with today's result and tomorrow is another day to do our best, because the competition is almost over," said Bruno Santos at the end of the stage that finished in Alula.

Tomorrow will see the tenth stage of the Dakar Rally 2024. The circular stage around the huge rocks of the Al Ula region will be challenging. A total of 612 km will be covered, of which 371 km will be timed. An obstacle course will give the more experienced drivers the opportunity to use their opponents' mistakes to their advantage.
