Dakar 2024: Duo Mário Franco and Daniel Jordão reach camp B on the first day of the 48H marathon stag
The Franco Sport team started the sixth stage today, a 48-hour marathon stage that crosses the harsh dunes of the Empty Quarter. The 549 km timed special with beginning and end in Shubaytah had a break today at 4pm and will only end tomorrow, the day before the entire delegation's rest day.
At the controls of a Yamaha YXZ 1000R Turbo T3, Mário Franco and navigator Daniel Jordão, who are competing in the Challenger Class, left for the special at 09:46, covered 295 km of the entire route in 06:36:40 and will spend the night at camp B , one of seven available, and tomorrow the remaining 254 km will still be covered.
Each pilot received camping equipment and enough provisions to get through tonight. The sixth stage continues tomorrow, at 7:00 am. We are already halfway through this 46th edition of the Dakar Rally. After the rest day, competitors will travel by plane to Riyadh, where the rally continues on Sunday, with the seventh stage.
