Portuguese champion competes for a greener world
Winner of the +45 drivers' classification in the 2023 Dakar, Mário Patrão will return in a few days to the most emblematic of the world's motorsport competitions, which will be held in Saudi Arabia for the fifth year running. It will be the eleventh participation for a rider who has a remarkable record both in Portugal and abroad and who is committed to competing for a greener world. The direct CO2 emissions resulting from his participation in the mythical off-road competition will be neutralized and offset through reforestation.
Since 2022, Mário Patrão, supported by CRÉDITO AGRÍCOLA, has stood out for his strong and particular commitment to an environmental sustainability project, demonstrating the viability of competing in an environmentally positive way. Following on from this project, and even before he leaves for Saudi Arabia, the driver, who is also sponsored by HOTEL ABRIGO DA MONTANHA, will be joining various organizations, sponsors, and friends in planting several hundred trees, an initiative that will take place on December 23rd in the municipality of Seia.
His commitment to a greener world has led Mário Patrão to compete on a 100% electric motorcycle in the most varied national off-road, motocross, and enduro races, with great success.
On the international stage, the Cross Country Rally World Champion among the +45 riders in 2022 and 2023 achieved a fantastic podium finish at the last Dakar in the extremely demanding class of riders who compete without any assistance, i.e. they are 100% autonomous. In the same category, he won the Morocco Desert Challenge, in which he also achieved a fantastic fifth place in the overall standings. In the Addax Rally, held in November, Mário Patrão, who also has BAHCO's support, came in third overall.
