During the upcoming Dakar Rally, which will be held from January 5 to 19, Team De Rooy will compete with three trucks. In the run-up to the Dutch Dakar event, we would like to introduce the teams. We kick off with the team of Boss Machinery Team De Rooy FPT with leader and defending champion Janus van Kasteren.

Driver: Janus van Kasteren
This entrepreneur from Veldhoven was born on September 10, 1986. His father is also called Janus, so the addition 'junior' is regularly used. In 2018, Janus junior rode his first Dakar Rally. After the talented rally driver dropped out twice in the truck category, he switched to Team De Rooy for the 2020 rally. That combination immediately proved successful. Since then, a sixth and fifth position in the final rankings has been achieved.
An absolute highlight followed with victory in the last edition of the world's toughest off-road rally. Van Kasteren, next to Jan de Rooy, Hans Stacey and Gerard de Rooy, placed fourth in the list of Dutch people who have ever won the Dakar rally.
The leader of Team De Rooy will try to successfully defend the title in the upcoming Dakar Rally.

Navigator: Marcel Snijders
Snijders made his debut in the Dakar Rally in 2005. This is what the self-employed entrepreneur born on January 6, 1967, did with a motorcycle. In the following years he gained a lot of experience.
In the 'Malle Moto' category, where motorcyclists participate in the rally as loners, he has already achieved third place in the final rankings. After switching as a navigator in the truck classification, he was allowed to climb two steps higher during the Dakar Rally. In his third rally for Team De Rooy, he was the first Dutch navigator to be crowned winner.
With all his experience as a motorcyclist, the Neerkant resident has been able to develop into a winning navigator. In this key position he hopes to open the door to new success in the coming rally.

Mechanic: Darek Rodewald
Darek is from Poland, born on June 28, 1983, is the most successful member of Team De Rooy. As a mechanic on a rally truck, he has no fewer than three Dakar titles to his name.
Two at the side of Gerard De Rooy and since the last Dakar his first with Janus van Kasteren. This permanent employee of Team De Rooy works all year round on the top rally trucks that the team manufactures in Son. During the rallies he proves time and time again as an indispensable link on the road to success.
The modest resident of Eindhoven is not a great talker, but when he says something, people listen. His experience and expertise seem indispensable in successfully defending the title at Dakar 2024.

As a trio, Van Kasteren, Snijders and Rodewald are a close-knit and well-coordinated team. After winning the Dakar, the FIA Cross-Country world title was recently won. Success leaves us wanting more, because our hunger is not yet satisfied. In January, Boss Machinery Team De Rooy FPT will defend the title full of ambition.
Of course, Team De Rooy will also be present at the Dutch Dakar event. There, Dutch participants in the Dakar Rally present themselves to the public. The teams will show what they have to offer on a specially constructed track.
