Dakar 2024: Mixed results for Ford drivers on stage 10
Gareth Woolridge and Boyd Dreyer (#225) had a strong and clean run through Stage 10 of #Dakar2024 today, running as high as 14th during the 371km competitive stage and ultimately finishing 18th overall, 19 min 07 sec behind the day’s winner.
“We pushed a little more than yesterday but I thought we would still be far back,” Gareth said. “We had a good day and it made a big difference not being in dust the whole time as we’ve had on the last couple of stages.”
Unfortunately Nani Roma and Alex Haro (#210) had a gearbox bearing fail on the road section to the start this morning and they weren’t able to start the stage. They will return for tomorrow’s penultimate stage with the objective of getting both T1+ Ford Rangers to the finish line on Friday.
“This morning we were really motivated as we had a good starting position, but after racing for almost 30 years I know this is part of the game, and this is a very tough event,” Nani said. “It’s better that we had the gearbox issue before starting the stage so we could get the car back and analyze the problem for next year. If we had the gearbox fail in the stage it would have made things really difficult.”
