Dakar 2025: Alexandre Pinto and Bernardo Oliveira reinforce their lead in the World Championship
Old Friends Rally Team duo maintain podium position in SSV competition
The young duo Alexandre Pinto/Bernardo Oliveira at the controls of a Can-Am today strengthened the lead they have held since the start of the Dakar Rally in the World Rally Raid Championship in the classification for SSV drivers and navigators. Today, the Old Friends Rally Team duo, winners of the first three stages, completed the first part of the Marathon stage and collected three more points, now with 18 against 10 for their most direct opponents.
Alexandre Pinto and Bernardo Oliveira spent 5h 54m 45s covering the 415 km of the special timed stage from Al Henakiyah to Alula and, in addition to the lead in the World Championship, they also occupy the podium in the FIA Rookie Challenge classification, for first-time drivers in this Dakar, and the third absolute SSV place, on a day when they came very close to second place.
Tomorrow sees the fifth stage, the second part of the marathon stage that will link Alula to Hail over 428 km of timed stages. The riders will have to tackle super-fast tracks. However, at some point the pace will slow down when the course hits sandy soil. Then, the mosaic of landscapes on this stage will lead to rocky terrain on the outskirts of Hail. This stage will precede a well-deserved rest day.
