Dakar 2025: Alexandre Pinto and Bernardo Oliveira win two more medals at Dakar Rally
Old Friends Rally Team team triumphs again in World Championship stage
Alexandre Pinto, accompanied by Bernardo Oliveira, won another medal at the Dakar Rally today, having won another stage among the drivers competing in this year's World Championship. At the controls of a Can-Am, the Old Friends Rally Team duo have been in clear control since the start of the world's premier TT event. Today, in addition to their victory in the World Rally Raid Championship, where they are the clear leaders, they added another podium in the FIA Rookie Challenge classification.
“This is the second day of the marathon stage. Yesterday we didn't have any assistance. Yesterday we had a few small problems that slowed us down, but today we had a clean stage. We arrived at the rest day in third place overall in the SSVs. We have won four stages among those entered in the World Championship. We're very happy. We weren't expecting this result, but we've been consistent and the result has come. This first week has certainly been very positive for us. Tomorrow we have a rest day and we're already preparing the car for the second week of the Dakar. We're going to keep our focus on our goal, which is to finish and accumulate experience, but of course we're doing our best and the results are showing,” said Alexandre Pinto on arrival at the bivouac in Hail, after taking 5h30m39s to complete the 428km timed special stage from Alula.
Tomorrow is a rest day in Hail. It will be an opportunity for the riders to regain their strength after having already faced five grueling stages, including the 48H chrono stage and the marathon stage. It's also time to work on the machines and get everything ready to tackle the remaining seven stages of the Dakar Rally 2025.
