Old Friends Rally Team duo consolidates leadership in Rally Raid World Championship

The entry into the second half of the legendary off-road competition being held in Saudi Arabia has proven to be very tough and the duo Alexandre Pinto and Bernardo Oliveira, debuting in this Dakar Rally, have been betting on a more cautious approach in the last stages to defend the mechanics of the Can-Am entered by the Old Friends Rally Team. Comfortably leading the SSV classification of the World Rally Raid Championship, to which they added two more points today, occupying a podium place in the FIA Rookie Challenge, where they are the first in the SSV Category and maintaining a top place in the SSV, the bet of team focuses on ensuring they will continue to finish stages.

“Today’s stage was a clean stage, we went at a very conservative pace. We are looking at what is to come and we did not want to impose a strong pace so as not to subject ourselves to damage. We had a puncture that slowed us down a little, but there's a lot of racing ahead. Yesterday we had a very long and difficult day. We did the last 150 kilometers with dunes at night, it was very hard since today with the cars leaving at the same time as the motorcycles we had very little time to rest and the same happened with the service team in preparing our Can-Am”, said Alexandre Pinto in Al Duwadimi at the end of the 7th stage and after having climbed once again to the podium to award the World Championship medals, where he and Bernardo Oliveira went to receive the medals corresponding to those from the 6th stage, since the ceremony had been postponed the day before. occurred before the arrival of the SSV at the bivouac.

Tomorrow's stage connects Al Duwadimi to Riyadh. There will be 734 km, of which 487 will be contested against the clock. Another special that promises to be lively and varied. A tight showdown is expected between the title contenders at a time when the many kilometers to go have now turned the Dakar into a war of physical, mental and mechanical attrition.
