Dakar 2025: Alexandre Pinto the best Portuguese at the entrance to the Empty Quarter
Old Friends Rally Team duo maintain positions with two stages to go
Alexandre Pinto and Bernardo Oliveira were today the fastest of the entire Portuguese delegation in the auto competition, having finished the 10th stage of the Dakar Rally 2025 with the 15th fastest time in a challenging journey between Harad and Shubaytah that included 120km of timed stages.
With just two more stages to go until the end of the Dakar 2025, the Old Friends Rally Team duo strengthened their leadership position in the SSV World Rally Raid Championship and also maintain a strong lead in the FIA Rookie Challenge classification, which is aimed at first-time drivers.
At the controls of a Can-Am, Alexandre Pinto spent just 2m16s more than the first-placed driver in today's SSV category, where he is in fourth place, and needed 2h13m01s to complete today's timed special.
Tomorrow sees the 11th and penultimate stage of the 47th Dakar Rally. It will be another complex stage around Shubaytah, where 280 timed kilometers will be completed. The caravan will continue to face the difficult dunes of the Empty Quarter, and the terrain will be full of traps at every turn.
