The 48-hour stage started well for Anja van Loon and her brothers Ben and Jan van de Laar. They started the second stage of the Dakar Rally strongly in the Iveco and drove in the top five for quite a while. They suffered a flat tire and were able to change it in the remote service, there it turned out that more needed to be replaced. After a repair by Team De Rooy, they were able to continue on their way and arrived at their overnight camp.

After the first 491 kilometers of the stage, which was 967 kilometers in total, the sister and brothers were in 11th time. A fine performance so far, as they lost over an hour with repairs to the truck. At 169 kilometers there was the opportunity for service, there it turned out that the hub seal was broken. The mechanics replaced it after which they could continue on their way. After that they drove a stable stage.

Tomorrow the second stage will continue. Anja, Jan and Ben still have 476 kilometers to go to the finish and will pass through all kinds of areas. Tonight they may prepare the truck for the rest of the stage and then they may spend the night in their tent under the stars in the desert. On to tomorrow!
