Fog delayed the start of the competition and the stage was shortened

Bruno Santos successfully completed the 11th and penultimate stage of the Dakar Rally 2025 today, the second of which took place in the Empty Quarter, one of the largest deserts on the planet and the largest continuous area of sand in the world. The journey, which was supposed to be around 300 km long, was shortened for safety reasons and the driver wearing the Patrícia Pilar Fruit Colors overcame the magnificent dunes that made up the entire stage without any setbacks.

“Today there were plans to cover 300 km in the Empty Quarter dunes, but the special had to be shortened because in the morning there was a three-and-a-half hour delay in the start for the bikes due to heavy fog. The helicopters couldn't take off and that was the option taken by the organization to safeguard our safety. With all this delay, if we were to do the whole route, only the riders at the front would be able to finish in the sunlight,” said the Momento TT-backed rider as he finished the penultimate stage without any problems, after the setbacks the day before:

“Yesterday I again had to deal with dirt problems in the fuel which damaged yet another pump. I had to stop inside the special to move fuel from one tank to another. Another fight, another challenge, another problem overcome in a special up and down the dunes that proved to be very demanding. This Dakar is proving to be a great challenge, but I've managed to overcome the adversities I've come up against,” said Bruno Santos, who added of today's stage: ”Tomorrow we'll have the last stage, the closing stage. We're very happy to be almost at the end of this Dakar and to have managed to overcome all the challenges.”

Tomorrow sees the end of the Dakar Rally 2025 with another boucle stage, starting and finishing at the bivouac that remains in Shubaytah. The 12th and final stage begins with a 70 km link and a timed special of just 61 km, in which the drivers will once again have to face the dunes of the Empty Quarter, before being able to enjoy a final arrival at the bivouac and the unique moment of consecration after completing this particularly difficult edition of the Dakar.
