The 2025 edition of the Dakar Rally began this Friday with the Prologue in Bisha and 29km of timed stages.
The Santag Racing team, with João Dias and Gonçalo Reis, finished the first time trial in 12th position among the SSV / T4.
“It was a somewhat difficult Prologue, but we kept to our pace, taking into account the profile of the stage, safely and recording a time that only serves to define what the starting order will be for tomorrow, when the Dakar will be serious and there will be many difficulties ahead of us,” said João Dias at the end of the stage.
In fact, the first difficulties for the drivers and cars will begin this Saturday, with the first stage, once again starting and finishing in Bisha but with 413km of timed work, on terrain that will require more adaptation from the drivers and also a lot of navigation.
“It's been many days of preparation and the team has done a great job with the car precisely because we know it's going to be a very tough Dakar, but that's what we've prepared for, both Gonçalo and I and the entire Santag Racing structure has created all the conditions for us to face this great challenge,” added João Dias.
This Saturday's first stage of the Dakar Rally will bring the first major difficulties for the drivers, with the caravan passing over different surfaces and terrains that will require a lot of driving adaptation and special care, both in the sandy areas and on the rockier surfaces with lots of loose stones.
