Dakar 2025: Maria Luís Gameiro achieves her best result in the Dakar
After another long and demanding stage, the duo from Team Motivo JCB achieved their best result in the Dakar 2025. 28th place at the end of Stage 6 put a smile on the faces of Maria Luís Gameiro and José Marques.
It was a very long stage, with more than 600 timed kilometers, but one that was “conquered” by the duo, who have shown that they now have a better understanding of what the Fenic X-Raid 1000R Turbo can demand. Considering that they covered more than 900 km and spent more than 12 hours on board the car, the result can only be considered positive for the “rookie” who continues to discover the Dakar.
Tomorrow's stage will once again test her physical and mental endurance. There will be another 400 kilometers of special stages and almost 300 links in a loop to and from Al Duwadimi. Because motorcycles and cars follow different tracks, the stage will be more favorable in terms of timetables.
On arrival in Saudi Arabia late at night, Maria Luis Gameiro said: “This was another tough stage that we managed to overcome successfully. We have a better understanding of what we can demand of our car and this more cautious approach has allowed us to reach the end of the stages with fewer problems. And today, we achieved our best result in the Dakar, a 28th place, which also shows our evolution over these days. It's with this mentality that we'll continue. Today was a lot of kilometers and a lot of hours in the car, but we overcame this challenge. Considering I'm a rookie and not a racing professional, I can only be happy with what we've achieved so far and, above all, I'm still having fun and overcoming myself. Physically we're fine and tomorrow we'll start the stage a little earlier, which will also help, especially if we have any problems.”
