Dakar 2025: The KH-7 ECOVERGY Team is already co-leader of the Mission 1000 category.
- Jordi Juvanteny, José Luis Criado and Xavi Ribas have scored the most bonus points in the first stage of the Dakar and are tied for the overall lead with the previous leader.
- The hybrid Hydrogen / HVO power system allows the Spanish team to increase its pace and enjoy riding and navigation in a very sandy stage.
- Juvanteny: “The truth is that it went very well. The stage was very cool, very sandy, perfect for our characteristics. We have completed it with a lot of ease and going fast”.
The KH-7 ECOVERGY Team did not take long to present its credentials to revalidate the victory in the Mission 1000 challenge of the Dakar. Jordi Juvanteny, José Luis Criado and Xavi Ribas were the first to complete the first “serious” stage of the event - as defined by co-driver José Luis Criado - and scored the most bonus points of the day, 15. The MAN 6x6 truck with the colors of KH-7, powered by a mixed system of Hydrogen / HVO (hydrotreated vegetable oil), is already co-leader of the Mission 1000 category, with 30 points, tied with the motorcycle of Benjamin Pascual (in Mission 1000, bikes, cars and trucks compete together).
Rider Jordi Juvanteny was radiant at the end of this first stage, a loop around Bisha, with 93 kilometers timed for the Mission 1000: “The truth is that it went very well. The stage was very cool, very sandy, perfect for our characteristics. We completed it with a lot of ease and going fast”.
Juvanteny's driving of the veteran orange truck has delighted his cabin mates. “We had a great time. Jordi has driven wonderfully, we have done many drifts, which, to tell the truth, have made me hallucinate. And José Luis has been impeccable with the navigation, without mistakes”, says Xavi Ribas. The director of the EVARM company is responsible for the hydrogen hybrid system of the KH-7 truck and is competing in his second Dakar as a crew member of the Spanish team. A very valuable experience for the development of this pioneering system, with which the Spanish team is charting the way for the future of the Dakar.
José Luis Criado, who this year is the first active competitor with the most Dakar rallies to his name, 34, while Juvanteny has 33. Very straight, but with many changes of course. There was also a very tricky trial area. We have to take care of the truck, and we got through it as well as we could, calmly”, he explains.
