Dakar 2026: KH-7 ECOVERGY finishes second on Stage 4 and remains in the fight in Mission 1000
Jordi Juvanteny, José Luis Criado and Xavi Ribas add 15 points after completing the special in Normal Mode.
The MAN 6x6 truck crew remains third overall in their category, tied with the runner-up and just five points behind the leader.
Juvanteny: “The stage demanded precision both in driving and navigation. We kept a steady pace, made no mistakes and had a really good feeling.”
The team refuels its vehicle each day using a portable hydrogen refuelling station, which supplies 10 kg of hydrogen in 15 minutes.
The KH-7 ECOVERGY Team was once again among the standout performers on Stage 4 of the 2026 Dakar Rally. On a route linking AlUla and Ha’il, covering a total of 621 kilometres (98 timed), Jordi Juvanteny, José Luis Criado and Xavi Ribas secured an impressive second place, keeping them firmly in contention for the lead in the Mission 1000 category.
At the wheel of the innovative MAN 6x6 hydrogen-electric hybrid truck, the crew once again completed the special in Normal Mode, earning 10 points for reaching the finish and a further 5 bonus points for matching the reference time. This haul keeps the team third overall, tied on points with second place and just five points off the lead, in an edition marked by the tight battle between competitors.
“The stage, which combined fast tracks, rocky sections and a very varied route, demanded precision both in driving and navigation. We maintained a steady pace, made no mistakes and had a really good feeling,” said driver Jordi Juvanteny.
Co-driver José Luis Criado highlighted the teamwork inside the cabin: “It was a really enjoyable day. We had great coordination between us and managed to maintain a good speed. The result is very satisfying and allows us to stay in the fight.”
The KH-7 ECOVERGY Team will take on Stage 5 tomorrow, Thursday 8 January, which will cover a total of 383 kilometres (110 timed), starting and finishing in Ha’il. Another opportunity to keep scoring points in the Mission 1000 standings.
