Stage 8 delivered another lengthy test with frequent terrain changes. After a fast start, multiple dune belts repeatedly broke the rhythm before the route opened into fast sandy tracks which wound their way through spectacular valleys.
Both Century Racing crews adjusted their approach from yesterday. Brian Baragwanath and Leonard Cremer , having previously been cautious, matched Mathieu Serradori and Loic Minaudier setup today and immediately felt the difference in the sand.
Brian Baragwanath and Leonard Cremer delivered a strong, confident drive and showed a clear step forward throughout the stage. Mathieu Serradori and Loïc Minaudier lost around 1min30s due to a small navigation detour, despite otherwise having the pace for a potential top-five result. In a field this close, even minor mistakes are heavily punished. Later in the stage, a sidewall puncture added to their lost time.
It was ultimately still a strong day for the team with Brian Baragwanath and Leonard Cremer ending the stage in P10, while Mathieu Serradori and Loïc Minaudier finished in P11
The momentum is strong for Century Racing as we move into Stage 9
