Dakar Rally Director Visits EBRO Factory and Backs the Spanish Team
The Dakar Rally director, David Castera, visited EBRO’s headquarters in Barcelona’s Zona Franca, getting a first-hand look at the brand’s industrial scale, future plans and its new motorsport programme.
Castera welcomed EBRO’s arrival to the world of rally-raid:
“It’s excellent news for the rally to welcome a new manufacturer like EBRO. We’re delighted to support them and help the Dakar give visibility to their brand.”
EBRO’s CEO, Pedro Calef, highlighted the shared vision:
“We’re fully aligned in building a success story that unites EBRO’s innovation with the spirit of the Dakar.”
During the visit, Castera met with Calef, EBRO EV Motors board member Vicenç Aguilera, Dakar project coordinator Ariel Jatón, and driver Laia Sanz, who presented the strategic roadmap behind the EBRO Audax Motorsport project.
Castera toured the production lines at EBRO Factory, a 307,000 m² facility employing more than 900 people. Since production began in late 2024, the plant has built over 10,000 units of the s400, s700 and s800 models.
He also praised the team’s debut at the Rallye du Maroc, where Laia Sanz placed consistently inside the Top 20 with the s800 XRR:
“Laia drove extremely well, and the team handled a demanding challenge with maturity. Their consistency shows real potential for the Dakar.”
EBRO Audax Motorsport now continues its final preparations before shipping the EBRO s800 XRR to Saudi Arabia.
EBRO EV MOTORS is a Spanish automotive group focused on the design, manufacturing and commercialisation of sustainable vehicles. As the parent company of EBRO SUV, it is reviving the historic EBRO brand with a new industrial project centred on clean-energy mobility.
Production takes place at the reindustrialised former Zona Franca plant — now EBRO Factory — and at the Montcada i Reixac facility for stamping and welding.
EBRO EV MOTORS is listed on BME Growth under the ticker EBROM.
