The NH Gran Hotel Casino Extremadura in Badajoz has hosted this Thursday the official presentation of the VII edition of the Baja TT Dehesa Extremadura that will be held from April 14 to 16 in different locations in the province of Badajoz and, as a novelty, in Portuguese territory .
This sporting event opens this year as a valid event for the FIM Motorcycle and Quad Baja World Championship , an achievement that increases the international dimension of the event. In addition, it is eligible for the FIA Cross Country Bajas European Championship for cars, the FIM Bajas motorcycle and quad European Championship , the Spanish All-Terrain Rally Championship , the Portuguese All-Terrain Rally Championship , the of Spain of motorcycle and quad TT raids , the Iberian Trophy of all-terrain Rallyes and the Great Lake of Alqueva Trophy .
Another novelty is that this year we will have the creation of the ' ParaBaja TT Dehesa Extremadura', a discipline in which pilots and co-pilots with reduced mobility will participate with the aim of “ continuing to break barriers for the practice of this sport ”. Pedro Pecero, president of the Organizing Committee, has pointed out.
In the absence of closing the registration period, there are already 180 registered pilots from countries in Europe and America, which increases the participation of previous years. The VII edition will also have Canal Extremadura TV as official television with the live broadcast of the prologue stage, a special follow-up of the entire race and the transfer of images and signals to RTVE through the Teledeporte channel and other countries. In fact, there are already more than 50 accredited media from Portugal, Italy, Hungary, France, Belgium and the Czech Republic, among others.
The deputy mayor of the Badajoz City Council, Antonio Cavacasillas, the first vice president of the Badajoz Provincial Council , Ricardo Cabezas, the head of Institutional Relations of the Royal Spanish Automobile Federation (RFEdA) Juan Esteve and the counselor of Culture, Tourism and Sports , Nuria Flores.
CROSSING THE CASTLE WALLS OF ELVAS (Portugal)
The competition will start on Friday, April 14, with the prologue stage that will take place in the city of Badajoz. As in previous years, the race will circulate through the El Pico area and, later, there will be a regrouping of the participants in the town of Elvas, in Portugal, where the walls will be opened for the passage of the pilots.
The stage on Saturday, April 15, will be divided into two parts. In the morning, it will start in Alconchel and will cover the towns of Higuera de Vargas, Zahínos, Oliva de la Frontera and Valencia del Mombuey, with a route of 130 kilometers for motorcycles and 200 kilometers for cars. The vehicles will than return to the assistance park of Badajoz for some repairs. On the second half of the day the categories will exchange routes, with the motorcycles racing the 200 kilometers stagen and the cars the 130 kilometers stage.
On Sunday, April 16, the final stage will be held with a demanding route for the pilots with a variety of environments and places. The motorcycles will carry out two sections, starting the first from Santa Marta and the second from Solana de los Barros. In the case of cars, they will carry out a section that will also start from Solana de los Barros. The pilots will visit the municipalities of La Albuera, Nogales, Almendral, Cortegana, Retamal, Corte de Peleas and Entrín Bajo.
