Baja Aragon 2024: bp Ultimate Adventure Team in the spotlight at Baja España Aragón
Martim Ventura in the Top 5 and David Megre climbs to 4th in the World Cup
Martim Ventura and David Megre successfully completed their participation in the 40th edition of the Baja España Aragon, the third stage of the Bajas World Cup held in the Spanish city of Teruel. The bp Ultimate Adventure Team riders achieved outstanding results, with the young Martim Ventura on a Husqvarna taking 2nd among the Juniors and 5th in the overall standings on his debut in Europe's oldest baja, while David Megre added important World Cup points that allowed him to rise to 4th place.
“It was my first participation in a FIM Baja World Cup race and I'm a mixture of happy and annoyed. I'm happy because I had a good pace at some points in the race, but annoyed because at others I was losing a lot to the Spanish riders, which in a way is normal because this was their race. But I felt good riding on tracks that were totally unknown to me and I realized that I need to train more on this type of terrain, with gullies, rocks, dirt, which was where I had the most difficulty. In the faster areas similar to Portugal, I was more comfortable. I'm happy, I came fifth in a world championship race on my debut and now we have to keep growing,” said Martim Ventura, the current leader of the national off-road championship, at the end of the race.
For David Megre on his Kawasaki, vice-world champion, “the goal of getting as many points as possible for the World Cup, which I'm going to try to fight for again this year, was achieved in these three very tough days of racing with a lot of heat and a lot of rocks. I managed the race well and finished in a good position”.
