Baja Aragon 2024: De Mevius the fastest in the prologue stage
The 40th edition of the Baja España Aragón has started with the protagonism of Guillaume De Mevius in the car category. The Belgian driver has been the fastest in the prologue stage that has configured the starting order for the first of the two stages that will be disputed this Saturday.
The Belgian De Mevius showed his credentials to opt for the podium this weekend in Teruel achieving the best time in the prologue stage at the wheel of the Toyota Hilux. The Overdrive driver was the only one able to go under four minutes in the stage, six seconds and three tenths ahead of Yazeed Al-Rajhi, second in the FIA Cross Country Lowland World Cup. The third best time was for Portugal's Joao Ferreira with the Mini John Cooper.
In the top 10 at the end of the prologue stage was Nasser Al-Attiyah. The six-time winner of the Baja España showed a great pace with the Taurus and even overtook Nani Roma, who is competing in Teruel with the Ford Ranger T1+ of the Past Racing team.
The first ten cars classified in this category chose their starting position for tomorrow's stage, in which Mathieu Serradori will be the one who opens the track, with Rokas Baciuska starting from the second position. Today's winner, Belgian De Mevius will start from fifth place, while Nasser Al-Attiyah will be tenth.
In the truck category, Martin Macik won the prologue stage ahead of Javier Mariezcurrena, whom he beat by eleven and a half seconds at the finish line. Third place went to Richard de Groot.
The first two timed special stages of the Baja España Aragón will take place this Saturday. The car and truck categories will start at 7.43 am in the first 163km stage, while the motorcycle and quad categories will start at 7.07 am in the 181 km long Torrijo del Campo-Gea de Albarracín special stage.
