Portuguese duo Fernando Barreiros and José Sá Pires, driving their Isuzu D-Max, delivered a standout performance at the Baja Aragón, held in Teruel, Spain. The team claimed victory in the Stock category, a result that now puts them at the top of the standings in the FIA World Cup for Cross-Country Bajas.
Barreiros also climbed to 5th place overall in the Master Drivers classification—another impressive milestone in his already accomplished career.
“I’m extremely happy with this win,” said Fernando Barreiros, the current European Baja Champion in the Stock category.
“This was a tough race, as is always the case here in Aragón. We did suffer a puncture, but luckily that was the only setback. I have to congratulate my co-driver, who was flawless throughout the event—our two stage wins, and now the World Cup lead, are thanks to his exceptional navigation.”
Barreiros also made a point to thank the support crew and sponsors:
“Hats off to our service team, who gave us a perfect Isuzu D-Max to take on such a demanding rally. They worked tirelessly to ensure everything ran smoothly. And of course, a big thank you to our sponsors—this win is for them, too. Without their support, we wouldn’t be here competing in the World Cup.”
The next round of the FIA World Cup for Cross-Country Bajas takes place in Portugal, with the bp Ultimate Baja Portalegre 500 scheduled for October 23–25, 2025.
