Teruel, July 26, 2025 – The roar of engines echoed through the early morning in Teruel as the motorcycles kicked off the 2025 Baja España Aragón before dawn, departing from the Palacio de Congresos. Riders faced nearly 350 km of timed racing, split across two Selective Sections cutting through the rugged beauty of the Jiloca, Albarracín, and Teruel regions.
The opening stage from Torrijo del Campo to Gea de Albarracín proved to be a true test of endurance, focus, and riding skill. Lorenzo Santolino, riding his Sherco, delivered a masterclass performance, clocking the fastest time of 2:53:11.0. His blend of speed and precision left no room for doubt—he’s here to win.
Behind him, Neels Theric (KOVE) posted 2:56:26.0, staying within striking distance, while Alfredo Pellicer (KTM) secured third with 2:59:24.0, despite losing precious seconds trying to overtake French quad rider Jerome Connart, who made every pass an uphill battle.
Alonso Trigo (KTM), battling a stiff suspension setup in the morning, made key adjustments before the second stage to soften his ride—an essential move that would pay off later in the day.
In the afternoon, the riders returned for the shorter Argente–Cella stage. Conditions remained favorable, with mild temperatures just under 30°C and a light breeze. Santolino once again set the pace, clocking 1:53:18.0, followed by a much-improved Trigo, just 46 seconds behind. Theric came in third at +1:12, and Sherco’s Bradley Cox made a promising debut with a solid fourth-place finish. Pellicer rounded out the top five, though he lost valuable time—+3:30 off Santolino’s lead.
By day’s end, Santolino firmly held the overall lead with a total time of 4:50:59.0, ahead of Theric by +4:39.0 and Trigo by +9:01.0.
In the FIM Baja quad category, Frenchman Jerome Connart (Yamaha) dominated with a combined time of 5:08:42.0, placing him eighth overall among both bikes and quads. His closest rival, Antoine Sanchez (Yamaha), trails by +11:37.0, followed by Victor Carles Ainoza (Honda) at +25:21.0.
In the trail category, Alessandro Ruoso (Yamaha) leads the way with a time of 5:29:00.0, ranking 23rd overall. Meanwhile, Joan Pedrero, riding a Harley-Davidson, stunned with a time of 5:22:47.0, taking the top spot in the Maxitrail class and an impressive 17th overall.
Tomorrow’s final stage repeats the 132 km Argente–Cella section—an all-or-nothing opportunity for those chasing the crown.
