After conquering the brutal Morocco Desert Challenge with a strong 5th-place finish, Maria Luís Gameiro is back on the grid. The Team Motivo JCB driver will take on the prestigious Baja España Aragón from July 25–27 behind the wheel of her X-Raid Mini T1+. This marks her return to European racing exactly one year after her last event on the continent.

First held in 1983 and inspired by the legendary Dakar Rally, Baja España Aragón has become a cornerstone of the FIA World Baja Cup, European Baja Cup, and the Spanish Cross-Country Rally Championship. Known for attracting top-tier teams and elite drivers, past winners include Nasser Al-Attiyah, Stéphane Peterhansel, and Nani Roma.

The 2025 edition boasts a star-studded lineup of 165 teams in cars and trucks. Big names like Al-Attiyah, Roma, Miroslav Zapletal, Martin Prokop, João Ferreira, and the entire Goczal family (Eryk, Marek, Michal) will be competing. On the women’s side, Maria Luís will face off against top talent including Cristina Gutiérrez, Laia Sanz, and Magdalena Zajac, once again paired with experienced co-driver Rosa Romero.

A Demanding and Technical Route

The race spans 797.69 km total, including 545.57 km of timed stages. It begins with a 6.78 km prologue on Friday, followed by two tough legs across the dusty, high-speed tracks of Teruel. Saturday features SS1 (172.71 km) and SS2 (193.37 km), and the final stage, SS3 (172.71 km), takes place on Sunday.

As always, the terrain in Aragón is unforgiving—fast, dusty, and navigation-heavy, demanding peak performance from both drivers and machines.

Focused and Fired Up

After months off, Maria Luís returns motivated and ready to push herself.

“Baja España Aragón is a special event—historic, highly competitive, and technically demanding,” she said. “After racing in Morocco’s dunes, this will be a different but equally thrilling challenge. It’s an honor to race among such a strong field. We’re well-prepared and eager to tackle Aragón’s demanding stages. For me, this is also valuable training for the Dakar. It will be tough—but an important step forward.”

With a stacked entry list and a world-class route, Baja España Aragón 2025 promises to be a major highlight in Maria Luís Gameiro’s growing career as she continues to gain mileage and experience at the top levels of international cross-country rallying.
