After events in Saudi Arabia, Portugal and Jordan, the FIM Bajas World Cup returns to the Spanish town of Teruel for the second time for the fifth round, Baja Spain Aragón.
Located on the road between Valencia and Zaragoza, the small medieval town will become the temple of off-road motorcycling for three days.
Motorcycle and quad riders will undergo administrative and technical checks at the Palacio de Exposiciones y Congresos de Teruel on Friday morning. Friday afternoon’s Prologue will determine the starting order for the opening special stage and will be held in Geo de Albarracin.
Riders will then tackle two specials on Saturday and then one on Sunday before the ceremonial finish in Teruel. In total, the 51 FIM riders present will cover 819.16km, including 548.81km timed against the clock.
Sherco riders Lorenzo Santolino, Bradley Cox and Harith Noah are present, with Cox participating in his first Baja for the factory team after joining this year.
Emirati Mohammed Al-Balooshi is the defending champion and current leader of the FIM Bajas World Cup with 67 points and is also present. He will be hoping to keep his Lebanese team-mate Eid Rafic (53pts) at bay. Javi Vega Puerta (Kove) is third in the points’ standings with 33 points.
Also present on the Iberian Peninsular for a full-scale training session is Konrad Dabrowski (KTM), one of six FIM Junior riders competing in Baja Spain Aragón.
Five female riders will line-up at the start of this fifth round: Alona Ben Natan (GasGas) has 45 points, Sara Garcia (Yamaha) was 25 and Maria Taranto (Honda) has 20. Joanna Modrzewska (Husqvarna) and Lili-May Mansuy (Kove) are also present.
Ten riders will be vying for the podium in the quad category. Hani Al-Noumesi leads the way on 61 points from Jorge Sampaio (45pts), Antoine Sanchez (25pts) and others. They have started the season well but will have their work cut out to hold on to the top spots with rival Kevin Giroud in determined mood, as well as Jérôme Connart and Toni Vingut.
