On June 18, 19 and 20, 2026, the region will host the tenth edition of the Baja TT Dehesa Extremadura, an off-road race counting towards the FIM Bajas World Cup for motorcycles, the FIM Europe Bajas Championship for motorcycles, the Spanish Cross-Country Rally Championship for cars, and the Spanish Raid Championship for motorcycles. Once again, the event will place Extremadura among the leading national and international motorsport venues.
The race was presented today in Badajoz at a public event attended by the regional Minister for Culture, Tourism and Sports, Laureano León, accompanied by the Mayor of Badajoz, Ignacio Gragera; the Infrastructure Deputy of the Badajoz Provincial Council, Abel González; the Head of Institutional Relations of the Royal Spanish Automobile Federation, Juan Estévez; and Pedro Pecero, president of the race organising committee and of Motor Club Villafranca, the organising body, who outlined the new features of this year’s edition.
Once again, the event will have a strong Spanish-Portuguese character, as the prologue stage will again take place in the border area of the Alentejo.
The base of the event will once again be Badajoz, specifically the area known as the “old fairground”, where the service park and parc fermé will be set up. The competition will be held on tracks and roads across the south-west of the autonomous community, with the route passing through the municipalities of Badajoz, Olivenza, Alconchel, Villanueva del Fresno, Oliva de la Frontera, Higuera de Vargas, Zahinos, Valencia del Mombuey, Barcarrota and Jerez de los Caballeros.
The Baja TT Dehesa Extremadura, now celebrating its tenth edition, has established itself as a benchmark event at national and international level, forming part of the international automobile and motorcycle racing calendars.
The race will feature 460 kilometres of competition across tracks and roads in Extremadura and Portugal, with its strategic base in Badajoz. From there, the entire event will be managed and controlled, with administrative and technical checks also taking place there, as well as the team presentation during the start ceremony, scheduled for Friday, June 19.
The municipalities and towns the competitors will pass through before completing the 460 timed kilometres of the race are as follows: Badajoz, Campo Maior, Olivenza, Alconchel, Higuera de Vargas, Villanueva del Fresno, Oliva de la Frontera, Valencia del Mombuey, Zahínos, Barcarrota and Jerez de los Caballeros.
The event will feature two days of competition. Technical and administrative checks will take place on June 18 and 19, with teams completing the necessary documentation for the race. In addition, a podium ceremony will be held in a central location in Badajoz, along with the shakedown, a test section where teams will be able to check their vehicles.
On Friday, June 19, the prologue stage will be held, a timed section taking place on tracks linking Badajoz with the Portuguese town of Campo Maior.
The main highlight of the event will take place on Saturday, June 20, with the second stage, covering around 455 kilometres. Two sections will be contested, starting in Alconchel and finishing in Zahinos.
At the end of the stage, the awards ceremony for the various winners will be held at the service park, located at the fairground.
Attendance estimates point to around 30,000 spectators over the three days of competition, mainly from Extremadura, Spain and Portugal.
The race is organised by Motor Club Villafranca, which began its activity in 1986. In addition to the Baja TT Dehesa Extremadura, now celebrating its tenth anniversary, the club also organises in Spain the BP Ultimate Rally-Raid Portugal Extremadura, a round of the World Rally-Raid Championship, the Rallye de Tierra de Cáceres, a round of the Spanish Gravel Rally Championship, and other events counting towards the Extremadura championships.
