Baja Greece 2026: Fernando Barreiros Begins the Greece Baja with a Prologue Victory
Fernando Barreiros began his participation in the Greece Baja today on a very positive note, where, at the wheel of an Isuzu D-Max and navigated by José Sá Pires, he set the fastest time in the prologue of this event, which counts towards the World Baja Championship.
“We started our Greece Baja with a six‑kilometre prologue, fast and perfectly suited to my style. I adapted well to the course presented to us and we won the Stock category with a comfortable margin. Tomorrow the real race begins. We have around 350 timed kilometres ahead of us, and we will give our best to start our participation in this world championship with a victory,” said the Loures driver, Fernando Barreiros.
José Sá Pires, for his part, highlighted “the large number of spectators watching the event, creating an excellent atmosphere. The prologue was, as Fernando mentioned, fast and on good terrain, unlike what we expect to find tomorrow in the mountains, where a very tough stage surely awaits us.”
The Greece Baja, held from 4 to 7 June in the mountains of Western Macedonia, around Argos Orestiko and the mountainous areas of Vitsi and Grammos, features a total route of 806.37 km, of which 600.19 km are timed, divided between the already‑completed prologue and two additional stages. The competition is known for its long dirt sections, technical routes and high altitudes, offering a true test of endurance for both drivers and machines.
