Portuguese Driver Targets Stock Category Victory in the FIA World Baja Cup
Fernando Barreiros will compete in Baja Greece, a round of the FIA World Baja Cup taking place from June 4 to 7, with the objective of fighting for victory in the Stock category.
Driving an Isuzu D-Max and joined by co-driver José Sá Pires, the Loures-based driver is preparing to tackle one of the most demanding events on the international off-road calendar. Once again, the rally features a complex route that promises to be a major challenge for the Portuguese crew.
Despite acknowledging the difficulties of the event and the strength of the opposition, Fernando Barreiros is motivated to battle for the top positions and achieve a positive result in Greece.
“Baja Greece is always demanding, both for the drivers and the vehicles, but we are prepared to give our best and fight for victory in the Stock category. We know it will be a very difficult event, with extremely fast drivers and highly competitive teams. However, we are confident in the work we have been doing and believe we can be competitive. We will start the rally focused and determined to achieve a strong result,” said Fernando Barreiros.
Held in the mountains of Western Macedonia, around Argos Orestiko and the mountainous regions of Vitsi and Grammos, Baja Greece features a total route of 806.37 km, of which 600.19 km are timed special stages. The event is divided into a prologue and two competitive stages. Known for its long gravel sections, technical terrain and high-altitude routes, Baja Greece provides a true endurance test for both drivers and machinery.
