The twelfth edition of the Baja Lorca – Ciudad del Sol was once again a major success this season, bringing the top teams of the Spanish Cross-Country Rally Championship GT2i to the city of Lorca.

After a spectacular opening day yesterday, teams faced two special stages today, each over 170 kilometers, traversing the municipality from early in the morning.

The overall victory went to Santiago Carnicer from Castellón and his co-driver Sergio Peinado, who secured their second consecutive win at the Lorca event — and a third overall for Carnicer, making him the most successful driver in the history of the race.

Luis Recuenco and Daniel Cámara claimed second place after an intense battle for the win, finishing just fifty seconds behind. Completing the final podium were Federico Mogni and David Jesús Nieto, who also took the win in the T4 category.

In the Spanish Cross-Country Rally Regularity Cup, the winners were Javier Foix and Xavier Juncosa, followed by Joao Procopio Fortes and Carolina Cadavid in second place, with Fernando Blanco and Antonio Pomarol rounding out the podium.

In the various categories, the winners were: Regidor-Ledesma in T1, Rodríguez-Giménez in T2, Dinis-Damásio in T3, and Mogni-Nieto in T4. In T1N, Bonillo-García took the win, while Bell-Harmmond won the Open category, and Babler-Ranero topped Open SSV. Among the female competitors, Laura Bonillo claimed victory in the Female Drivers category, and Sara García in the Female Co-Drivers category.

The event concluded with the traditional trophy ceremony held on Avenida Juan Carlos I, attended by Mr. Juan Miguel Bayonas, Councilor for Sports of the Lorca City Council; Juan Esteve, representing the Royal Spanish Automobile Federation; and José Mulero, President of the Lorca Automobile Club.

Once again this season, the Lorca Automobile Club extends heartfelt thanks to everyone who contributed to the event — from institutions to sponsors, and of course all the volunteers without whom this race wouldn't be possible. We also thank the media, fans, and everyone who played a role in making this twelfth edition a true success.
