Baja Lorca 2026: Santiago Carnicer Secures Fourth Career Victory at Baja Lorca – Ciudad del Sol
The 13th edition of the Baja Lorca – Ciudad del Sol came to a close after an intense Saturday in which soaring temperatures and heavy dust often overshadowed the challenges faced by the Automóvil Club de Lorca. The organisers successfully delivered the event despite having received an environmental report on Thursday imposing significant restrictions on the running of the rally.
Santiago Carnicer and Sergio Peinado secured victory for the second consecutive season aboard their Toyota Hilux T1+, following a strong performance in a hard-fought battle that lasted throughout the day. The driver from Castellón claimed his fourth overall victory in Lorca, further extending his record as the event’s most successful competitor.
Second place overall went to Jesús Fuster and Pol Ros, who delivered an outstanding performance with their Taurus entered by Nasser Racing Team. Luis Recuenco completed the final podium despite suffering a puncture on the last stage.
In the category standings, victory in T1 went to sisters Mónica and Marta Plaza with their Santana. Alberto Dorsch and Marcos Martínez claimed the win in T2, while Matías Rodríguez and Susana Guasch triumphed in T8. In the Open category, Peter Van den Bosch and Brand Hans secured victory with their spectacular Audi Quattro.
Laura Bonillo emerged as the winner in the Female Drivers classification, while Giovanna di Blasi claimed top honours among Female Co-Drivers. In the Regularity category, victory went to Víctor D'Croz and Edilsa Mariciela Román, while Rafael Ángel Lesmes and Tabatha Romón were the best performers in Regularity Sport.
The event concluded with the prize-giving ceremony on Avenida Juan Carlos I, where a minute's silence was observed in memory of Samuel, a co-driver who tragically lost his life the previous day during an event in Castellón.
As always, the organisers would like to express their sincere gratitude to all sponsors, partners, officials, media representatives, spectators and everyone whose dedication and support make it possible for the Baja Lorca – Ciudad del Sol to continue year after year.
