Expectations exceeded at Baja Oeste de Portugal
In the closing race of the Portuguese Cross-Country Championship, Nuno Matos, Ricardo Claro and the Amarok Proto showed that the work and dedication the team has invested in this new project is paying off.
After a Baja Portalegre where the team from Portalegre clearly lacked luck, Nuno Matos and Ricardo Claro arrived at the Baja Oeste de Portugal thirsting to close 2024 with a good result and, above all, with a performance that would boost confidence and expectations for next season.
And that's exactly what happened. Even with a first day of competition marked by a mishap and a second selective sector conditioned by a puncture, the team and the Amarok Proto lived up to all expectations, allowing them to return home full of good feelings and the desire to compete again.
“It was undoubtedly an excellent way to end the season. It's true that it wasn't perfect, that on the first day I arrived at the end of the race still quite sore, as a result of the whipping I took from the steering wheel when we got into a ditch, and on the second day we ended up puncturing and losing important minutes, at a time when we were the sixth fastest on the track, but this sport is just like that and the truth is that we left this race very satisfied,” says Nuno Matos.
The driver recalls that the year was extremely demanding, but stresses that “there's nothing better than ending the season in a race this tough and with so many people on the track. It was an excellent test for me and Ricardo, and for our Amarok, which was faultless,” he said.
To sum up, Nuno Matos made a point of underlining the commitment and passion of Ricardo Claro and the whole team, and thanked everyone who, regardless of the adversities this young project has faced, continues to give their support and trust.
“Many thanks to everyone for their support and affection. On and off the track we continue to feel the encouragement of the public, the trust of our partners and sponsors, ingredients that are fundamental to giving us the strength to attack 2025 with even more hope and energy,” he concluded.
