Baja Oeste 2024: Spanish Tipo Racing Team wins the T1 category in Baja Oeste
José Luis Garcia and Samanta Montiel win the category T1
José Luis García and Samanta Montiel have made a sensational Baja Oeste, and have won the T1 Category of the last round of the Portugal TT Rally Championship.
Garcia and Montiel started in a Prologue stage where the pilot did not find the right pace, which added to a small failure, placed them on the starting line in 26th place, a place that did not benefit at all to TIPO Racing Team by V-Sport.
However this was not a stumbling block for Garcia and Montiel to start the first Selective Sector doing a great job where they climbed many positions with a safe, steady and very fast pace. But a lapse in navigation 20 kilometers from the finish made them lose some time in the overall.
But their unbeatable fighting spirit made that in the second stage García and Montiel were sensational, fast, concise and very technical, which gave them the final victory of the race.
It should be noted that the Baja Oeste has been hard, selective, technical and very demanding physically, and despite all this, upon arrival at the finish line the driver said that “we have enjoyed the rally, the team has worked great and the Mini has been perfect”.
The Garcia-Montiel tandem, the only Spanish team that has fought in the Portuguese National Championship, has achieved excellent results in Portugal throughout the season, although a couple of incidents during the year have cost them a few points from winning the overall Portuguese Championship.
In the same line, the Portuguese Condenso, his main rival in the Championship, finished second behind Garcia, which has given him valuable points that have not allowed Garcia and Montiel, despite winning the race, to take the absolute podium of the National TT Portugal Championship.
After the victory in the Baja Oeste, and the second place in the final overall classification of the Portuguese championship, José Luis García has been very satisfied with the season they have had. In the same line, Samanta Montiel, the navigator of the TIPO Racing Team by V-Sport, has won the Women's Co-drivers Championship, and has been runner-up in the Co-drivers General Classification.
