---------------------------

One week to go until the final event of the Portuguese Championships, the Baja do Oeste 2024, which this year has swapped places with the Baja de Portalegre. Taking place in the municipalities of Torres Vedras, Alenquer, Bombarral, Cadaval, Óbidos and Sobral de Monte Agraço, the race organized by Escuderia de Castelo Branco will also be valid for the international competitions promoted by the FIM and FIM-Europe, the Bajas World Cup in the case of the FIM and the Bajas European Championship in the case of FIM-Europe.

The motorcycle program includes a prologue on Friday the 8th and two sectors, one on Saturday the 9th and the other on the following Sunday. The prologue will be held in Sobral de Monte Agraço, near the São Quintino track, with a total length of 4.75 km. On Saturday, the motorcycle program includes a long and demanding 173-kilometer section linking Cadaval to Vila Facaia in the municipality of Torres Vedras, crossing fields, orchards and forests on surfaces that will alternate between sand and clay. There will be service stations along the way, one just after KM83 near the Bombarral Municipal Stadium, and another just after KM118 near Valor Sul.

On Sunday, the terrain and landscape will change somewhat, with the Serra de Montejunto being the race's great observer. Departing from Sobrena, in the municipality of Cadaval, the competitors will have around 114 kilometers to go until they reach the finish line in Camarnal, in the municipality of Alenquer, on a route that, as well as having a slightly different surface, and with larger sections of forest, will also have the added difficulty of having already been covered by the cars the previous day. The assistance area will be located at KM65, near the town of Espinheira.

Also with regard to motorcycles, the race organized by Escuderia de Castelo Branco will also be valid for the Mini-Baja. The program for the “little ones” also includes the prologue, but in this case it will be held on Saturday morning. During the day on Saturday, they will compete in their selective sector, which will start in Sobrena and end 65 km later in Espinheira.

As for the cars, the program will also be quite different from previous editions. The sports program will begin at 10am on Saturday morning with the Prologue in Sobral de Monte Agraço. Then, on Saturday afternoon, the car competitors will tackle the 114-kilometer section linking Sobrena - Camarnal. On Sunday, the cars will face the most complicated section of the race between Cadaval and Vila Facaia, which, as well as being longer and in a type of terrain that in theory is a little more difficult, should also be somewhat “punished” after the passage of the motorcycle, quad and SSV caravans.

The race organizers are expected to announce the entry lists shortly, as well as the race's public points where the public will be able to watch the competitors pass by.
