The Garcia-Montiel tandem of the TIPO Racing Team by V-Sport, has made a sensational Baja Portalegre where they have placed fourth in the Fia Ultimate class of the World Championship (T1 and T1 + vehicles), and third in the Portuguese T1 Championship.
But in addition, José Luis García and Samanta Montiel have entered the Top 15 of one of the most demanding international races where they have been classified thirteenth absolute third in the General Classification, and first Spanish team.
And a victory to celebrate is the absolute Championship of female co-drivers title just achieved Samanta Montiel, the navigator of the Team.
It should be noted that the 2024 edition of the Baja Portalegre has been rigorous for the mechanics of the Mini T1 X Raid, as well as very hard for the shoulder injury of the pilot, who despite having worked hard on his recovery, has suffered at some point by the severity of the sections of the test.
On the first day of the race and when they had a high and constant pace, a puncture in one of the tires made them lose a valuable 5 minutes, time that delayed them quite a lot in the position of the stage.
In the second Selective Sector, and despite the complicated state of the tracks, José Luis García and Samanta Montiel made a splendid and calculated comeback and managed to climb to thirteenth place in the table.
And in this line of riding they continued to climb positions in the third Sector, until they reached sixth place out of almost 100 participants. And it is important to point out that this sixth place is more than valuable because García and Montiel lost some minutes when they did not hesitate to stop in the race and help a participant they found in trouble.
According to the driver at the finish line, “it has been a race where I have felt very comfortable despite the physical discomfort, and where the car has behaved wonderfully despite the puncture with which we lost 5 minutes”.
José Luis García has valued that “as a team we have done a good job in Portalegre, we have enjoyed and we have achieved a sixth scratch that tells us that we are on the right track. Now we have to think about the Baja Oeste Portugal, the last event of the season”, said the driver in Portugal.
The TIPO Racing Team by V-Sport, the only Spanish team competing in the Portuguese National TT Championship, will continue to fight for the victory in T1.
