The Baja TT Dehesa Extremadura is first and foremost a round of the Spanish Cross-Country Rally Championship, and the 2026 entry list reflects that status with a strong home presence across the main categories. With 58 crews entered in the car category, the event has attracted a competitive and varied field, ranging from T1+ machinery to CHG1, T4, Open and regularity vehicles.
Spanish crews will have a major role to play, both in terms of depth and outright competitiveness. In the top class, names such as Luis Recuenco and Daniel Cámara, Santiago Carnicer and Sergio Peinado, Félix Macías and José Luis Conde, as well as several strong entries in CHG1 and T4, ensure that the home contingent will be central to the fight throughout the Baja. From experienced Toyota Hilux crews to the large group of Taurus, Can-Am, Polaris and other prototypes and SSVs, the Spanish championship regulars bring quality, knowledge and local ambition to the stages.
But this may be Spanish championship territory, and still the Portuguese presence is impossible to ignore. At the sharp end, João Ferreira and Filipe Palmeiro head the list in the Toyota Hilux T1+ of Toyota Gazoo Racing, giving Portugal one of its strongest cards for the overall fight.
They are far from alone. The Portuguese contingent also includes names such as Alejandro Martins and Nuno Morais in a MINI JCW Rally, César Sequeira and Filipa Sequeira, Hugo Martins and Joel Lutas, Ricardo Porém and Nuno Sousa, João Franco and Ricardo Batista, Pedro Carvalho and Romeu Martins, Afonso Charrua and Jorge Jordão, Pedro Pinha and Joaquim Dias, and Gonçalo Guerra with André Lopes. In other words, this is a Spanish championship round with a very serious Portuguese challenge.
Beyond the battle for results, there is also a welcome dose of nostalgia. QFF Adventures brings three Audi Quattro entries to the Open class, with Marcel van Vliet, Hans Stacey and Peter van den Bosch all listed at the wheel of Group B-inspired machinery. For rally-raid fans, their presence adds something rare to the Baja: not just pace and spectacle, but the unmistakable silhouette and spirit of one of rallying’s most iconic shapes.
